Hydrogen Solar Awarded 3-Year Marie Curie FP 6 Programme Grant

The European Commission has awarded funding to Hydrogen Solar for a 3-year postdoctoral and PhD positions as part of the EU's Framework 6 major project on the production and storage of hydrogen, simply titled, 'HYDROGEN'.

Hydrogen Solar will focus upon evaluating and scaling nanostructured materials provided by the group members, as well as solar testing and analysis of sample materials. Hydrogen Solar will also provide a cost analysis methodology for high performance Tandem Cells™.

The ‘HYDROGEN’ project is managed by Leiden University’s theoretical chemistry group, and includes the Science Institute at University of Iceland, EPFL, Fribourg University, University of Oxford, The Technical University of Denmark, Chalmers University of Technology, University of Warsaw and Shell Global Solutions. The network will provide a unified. Nanoscience and Surface Engineering approach to the production and storage of hydrogen, using new classes of materials and investigative techniques. These will provide an atomic level understanding of the mechanisms of hydrogen production by Tandem Cells and its storage within complex metal hydride materials and metal ammines.

ABOUT HYDROGEN SOLAR LTD
Hydrogen Solar Ltd is a privately owned company with offices and laboratories at Guildford, in the United Kingdom and at Henderson, Nevada in the United States. The Tandem Cell is a self-contained single unit which directly splits water molecules into high-purity hydrogen and oxygen using the energy from sunlight. No external electricity is required. The process is renewable, produces no carbon dioxide or other emissions. By using a modular design, the array can be built to an infinite variety of sizes, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and energy applications.
